Job Description:

            Jackson Township, York County, Pennsylvania, seeks an experienced and innovative leader with good communication skills to serve as its Township Manager.  Jackson Township is a Second Class Township with a population of 7,700, with active residential and business growth. 
            The Township Manager oversees all daily operations of the Township, including management and professional development of a staff of seven (7) full-time employees.  Duties of the Township Manager include preparation and revision of annual budgets for the Board of Supervisors (general fund budget in excess of $3 million with stable reserves), creating agendas for and attending Township planning commission and board of supervisors meetings, developing and implementing long-range planning for municipal services, keeping current with applicable municipal laws and proposed legislation, monitoring and making the board of supervisors aware of grant opportunities, assisting the wastewater treatment plant operator/administrator, attending/participating in pertinent professional associations and professional development opportunities approved by the Township, and interaction with residents, business owners and community stakeholders.  In addition, the Township wishes to modernize some of its practices, including digitalizing records and various permit applications.

Job Requirements:

Candidates should, at a minimum, (1) have five (5) years of municipal managerial experience; (2) possess strong financial/budgeting skills; (3) exhibit progressive knowledge of modern local government management practices and principles, including planning/zoning/land development; (4) have a record of successful and innovative problem-solving, decisiveness, adaptability, approachability, creativity and effective collaboration; (5) have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable discipline; and (6) practice excellent communication with all individuals.  Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Excellent benefits, including vacation, health insurance and pension.
